Around Bucharest – my first Saturday Part 3

Part 3 – Football “troubles”

Well off home for a late lunch for me via Kiseleff Park and the Eroilor Aerului – no don’t really know what it’s all about! Bucharest seems to have busts, statues, and sculptures all over the place many of which come with no explanation of what they are all about!

After lunch it’s off down Calea Floreasca back to the Dinamo Stadium to see if the ticket office is open. Yes – tickets on sale Dinamo v Lazio in the Champions League and at only 10 Euro each!
There the good news ends as the ticket office ask not only for my passport but the passport for anyone I’m buying tickets for! Unfortunately not being Italian and really supporting the team with the best behaved fans in the world (cough) is not persuasive so purchase is postponed.

Out in the evening with a colleague to try and catch the start of the football season it’s a trip to The Dubliner bar that has access to Sky Sports and Setanta. After a great start as I arrived to find a Welsh flag hanging outside things soon went downhill as it became apparent that the available coverage was going to be of the egg-chasing, peanut hugging, gateaux guts (look who’s talking!) variety.
Refuge was sought in large quantities of “Ursus” and tucking in to some fish and chips.
Unfortunately no photo’s as even I’m not stupid enough to wander around after dark somewhat the worse for drink with a camera in hand!

So a real mixed bag of a first day “off duty” in Bucharest – let’s hope they get better.
