Part 1 – Parks and Lakes
A slow start for me due to being a little “over-refreshed” on Saturday evening, but I’m off by 9:30 to explore the lakes and parks of Northern Bucharest.
A brisk walking around the southern end of Lake Floreasca brings me to the small and slightly shabby Floreasca Park. Still it’s a beautiful morning for sitting in the sun with a decent book – “Plain Tales from the Raj” for me at the moment.

After a couple of chapters I’m off westwards heading for the Arc de Triumf the World War One memorial.
Nearby is the magnificent Herastrau Park, with well maintained gardens, fountains, statues and a large lake – this is definitely going to be worth the extra walk rather than sitting in Floreasca Park of a Sunday morning!
